The Skeletal System

This course is held over two session and is ideal for anyone wishing to learn about the skeletal system before undertaking further study, or just to recap their anatomy and physiology. No qualifications or formal reading are needed, just an interest in anatomy and willingness to learn.
Anatomy is an interesting and enjoyable topic, understanding how the body works and how it is made will give you a better understanding of health, fitness, and wellbeing, as well as a possible opening into further study and career opportunities. This is an engaging course, made more enjoyable by Jason’s enthusiasm and own excitement for this subject.

The Shoulder:

Anatomy, Function, Testing & Treatment

A one-day course designed to recap, add to and improve your knowledge of the shoulder complex, assessment, and treatment.

The Shoulder: October 2021

This course is designed for manual therapists who already have some knowledge of anatomy, and experience treating patients. The course will concentrate on one specific area of the body and will vary from basic anatomy to more complex assessment and discussion of disfunction.

On completion you will have additional knowledge and the practical skills required to assess, identify and treat specific dysfunction within the shoulder complex, giving you more confidence, improved clinical skills and a stronger business.
At the end of the course you will receive a certificate of completion and awarded 6 CPD points.

Topics covered include:
•  Recap of anatomy – bone, ligaments, bursae, muscles, and nerve supply
• Scapula assessment and common disfunctions
• Differential diagnosis of shoulder pain
• Gleno-humeral joint – Labral tears, rotator cuff weakness and muscle testing
• Special Testing for Labral tears and impingement
• Treatment protocols and exercise advice
• AC & SC joint assessment & treatment

This is one of four lectures within the ‘Understanding Nutrition’ series, which also includes Proteins, Fats and Superfoods. Aimed to improve your knowledge on health, disease, vitality and nutrition. You will also learn about heart disease and diabetes, which are both a huge problem in today’s western world, and how we can tackle those problems with the right advice, knowledge and determination.

Open to anyone interested in learning more about nutrition. Starting from the basic building blocks through to the onset of disease. You can attend a single lecture or aim for all four and recieve a certificate of completion at the end.

Understand how proteins are made and their importance for our health and wellbeing. Learn where proteins are found within the body, how the are produced form the foods we eat, and why we need them to survive!

This is one of four lectures within the ‘Understanding Nutrition’ series, which also includes Carbohydrates, Fats and Superfoods. Aimed to improve your knowledge on health, disease, vitality and nutrition.

You will also learn about amino acids and how they form proteins, along with the importance of essential amino acids which include ‘Branched Chain Amino Acids’. Understand how much protein we need and how that changes as we age, exercise, or become ill. Learn about supplements and protein shakes – should we use them and when. We will also discuss steroids and how they pose a threat to health.

This talk is open to anyone interested in learning more about nutrition. Starting from the basic building blocks through to the onset of disease. You can attend a single lecture or aim to complete all four, and recieve a certificate of completion at the end.

During this talk you will learn about the structure of fat and the energy it provides, along with the difference between good and bad cholesterol. Also, why we store fat so easily, and how trans fats are damaging to our health. Further to this, you will learn a little about heart and arterial disease, strokes, and blood pressure, along with the importance of exercise.

In this talk, you will learn where we find vitamins and why they are so important in our diet. We will discuss Vitamin C, B12 and Vitamin D deficiency as well as the role of vitamin A. We will also discuss mineral deficiencies, including Calcium and Iron, along with electrolyte balance within the body. We then move onto superfoods – what are they, how many are there, what makes them special, and why are they so vital for our health?
